A few of months ago I wrote about the last card that I applied for, the Fidelity Rewards Visa. In that post I talked about why I didn’t apply for the World of Hyatt card at the time. A lot has changed between then and now. Here are the five reason I finally applied for the World of Hyatt Card:
Free Night Every Year

The World of Hyatt card comes with a free night at a category 1 – 4 hotel each year. This benefit alone is well worth the $95 annual fee. I could stay a night at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, which costs ~$250/night, for free. In addition, if you spend $15000 in a year you can earn another free night.
Automatic Discoverist Status
Within a couple of days of applying and being approved for the Hyatt card, you are automatically given Discoverist Status. Even though Discoverist is the lowest Hyatt status, it is still very valuable. Some of the benefits of Discoverist status are:
- 10% Bonus points on stays
- Complimentary Premium Internet
- Complimentary bottle of water daily
- 2:00pm Late Check out
Automatic mLife Pearl Status

Hyatt has a partnership with M Life. Your Hyatt status is matched to mLife status and vice versa. M Life is the loyal program of Las Vegas casinos like the MGM Grand, the Aria, the Luxor, New York-New York and the Mandalay Bay to name a few.

This is not automatic, you must link your Hyatt and mLife accounts. The status match usually happens within 48 hours. Since the World of Hyatt Card automatically earns you Discoverist Status, that means you can automatically achieve mLife Pearl status. Some of the more valuable benefits of mLife Pearl are:
- 10% Bonus points on slots and express comps
- Complimentary Self-Parking
- Dedicated Line at the Buffet
Chase Offers

Since the World of Hyatt Card is offered through Chase, it is eligible for Chase offers. These offers have saved me a lot of money for places I shop anyway. I frequently see offers for Airbnb, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts and AT&T. You could earn your back your annual fee with Chase Offers alone.
Additional Earning With American Airlines

In the past couple of months Hyatt and American Airlines launched a partnership. Hyatt members can earn additional points on airfare. The only way to earn points is to have American Airlines status or Hyatt status. Since the World of Hyatt card gives you Discoverist status, you can easily enroll.
Do you have the World of Hyatt card? If so, what are some of the reasons you applied for the card?
