A couple months ago I wrote about how the new World Elite benefits added more value to Citi Prestige. Well today, the other shoe has dropped. Citi has announced a number of big changes in benefits to all their cards including the Citi Prestige. Here are some of the benefits that are going away beginning on September 22:
- Worldwide Car Rental Insurance
- Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection
- Trip Delay Protection
- Baggage Delay Protection
- Lost Baggage Protection
- Roadside Assistance Dispatch Service
- Travel & Emergency Assistance
A lot of the benefits being taken away are some of the reasons why many people get the Citi Prestige in the first. Overall, these changes are a net negative. It makes it very hard to justify using the Citi Prestige for airfare purchases over the Chase Sapphire Reserve. My card renews at the end of this month. The annual fee for me is still $450. Depending on how the card evolves over the next year will be a deciding factor if I keep the Prestige or downgrade to the Premier,
Does the decrease in benefits affect whether you keep the Citi Prestige?
