Every month I go through the credit cards that I’m currently carrying in my wallet. I’ll highlight the reason I’m carrying a particular card as well as any new card bonuses. Changes since last post :
- Met the minimum spend on the Altitude Reserve
- Applied for the American Express Platinum card and met the minimum spend
American Express Platinum
This is the card I’m using for purchasing airfare since I get 5x membership reward points per dollar spent. Since I meet the minimum spend on this card in October, I’m not using it for everyday purchases.
Chase Sapphire Reserve
This is the card I use for restaurant and non airline travel purchases as it give me 3x UR points per dollar spent.
American Express Everyday Preferred
This is the card I’m using for everything else. As of right now mostly small transactions are going on this card to meet the 30 transaction criteria to receive a 50% bonus on all points earned for the month. I get 3x membership reward points for spend at supermarkets and 2x membership rewards points for spend at Gas Stations.
I’m also using this card for Best Buy, Boxed.com and Whole Foods purchases as I get an additional membership reward point for each dollar spent through AMEX offers.
U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve
I’m not actually carrying this one in my wallet. I mainly use this for ApplePay/AndroidPay purchases in non-bonus categories.
To tell the truth, I totally forgot about this card until I received a replacement card in the mail. I’m using this for purchases at Target and Amazon for the 5% cashback.
Cards I’ll use this month but not carrying everyday
Alaska Airlines Visa Signature
I’m using this mainly for Bankamerideals.
Capital One Quick Silver
I’m using this card to pay for Spotify. Capital One currently has a promotion offering 50% of until April 2018.
The categories this quarter are Walmart and Department stores. I don’t plan on using this as much but I probably will use mainly at Kohl’s to buy Starbucks gift cards.
Card Currently in the drawer (Not in Use):
American Express Hilton Honors Card
Product changed from the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass.
American Express Blue Sky
Chase Freedom Unlimited
